The Pirelli Scorpion III is the latest, sportiest generation of adventure-touring tires engineered by Pirelli. Built as the direct technical evolution of the highly successful Scorpion Trail II, this tire is specifically designed for modern adventure and crossover motorcycles. It bridges the gap between aggressive road sportiness and lightweight off-road exploration.
Core Technical
- 100% Silica Radial Compounds: Both front and rear radial sizes utilize a completely reformulated 100% silica-based compound. This maximizes thermal flexibility, allowing the tread blocks to heat up quickly and deliver top-tier grip on dry pavement and exceptional confidence in cold or wet conditions.
- Bi-Compound Rear Architecture: The center band features a high-density, wear-resistant compound optimized for straight-line tracking, high mileage, and high-speed stability. The shoulders are constructed with a softer stripe embedded with specialized plastifying resins to maximize side grip and stability at radical lean angles.
- 0° Steel-Belted Structure: Derived directly from Pirelli's supersport and sport-touring race development, the internal structure uses high-stiffness steel cords with a superior linear density. This enhances lateral thrust, eliminates any front-end "lift-up" effect while braking into corners, and maintains structural geometry even under maximum payloads (luggage and pillion passenger).
- Multi-Radius Progressive Profiles: The rounded multi-radius profile layout widens the overall footprint contact patch when leaning, yielding incredibly linear, predictable turn-ins and progressive handling behavior.
Terrain Capability & Tread Design
- Surface Application Split: Strictly categorized as a 90% Street / 10% Off-Road tire. It behaves like a high-performance sport-touring tire on twisty roads but retains the necessary structural robustness to handle gravel, fire roads, and dirt tracks. It is not built for loose sand or deep mud.
- Diablo-Inspired "Flash" Tread Layout: The central tread pattern incorporates the signature "Flash" groove layout used in Pirelli's Diablo superbike range. The asymmetric repositioning of these channels increases footprint sturdiness, reduces road roar, and vastly accelerates water drainage to combat hydroplaning.
